how to connect a phone battery to device?
I have a device that works with a 3.7v battery at 280mah. I have a phone battery that is 3.7v at 880mAh. I want to device to have a longer lasting battery. the phone battery is a motorola BK6, It has four metal connector an my device has a RED and Yellow wire. which connector should these wirebe plased on and will the battery explode of harm the device?
technically, it could work.
the big issue here is, the 3.7v 880mAh battery. If it is a Li-Po, these have a BAD habit of catching fire if improperly handled. They are very temperamental and have been known to “vent to flame”.
Next, it sounds to me as if you have no technical experience, if you are going to solder to battery contacts, you need to know what you are doing. (remember, vent to flame).
Using your volt meter (VOM/DMM), determine which pad is positive, which is negative. Since there are 4 pads, my bet is that there are two positive, one negative and one charge sense. The old battery may not have a charge sense point, if not, you can get by using a 1N4000 diode to fool the battery to accept a charge. Solder the diode across the pads, positive to sense and forward bias the diode. The 0.7v drop will fool the battery most of the time.
